Let's do this!!!

« on: January 15, 2015, 12:35:19 AM »

The Raven community is overall pretty relaxed, and to an extent it shows when we're running content together. We do, however, take some topics very seriously and thus have a set of rules for how everyone conducts themselves come raid time.

Please be fully aware of our expectations regarding the following topics:

Attendance

As of now, we run every Tuesday and Friday at 9pm Eastern (6pm Pacific). We generally try to stop running around 10pm, and no later than 10:30pm in order to accommodate RL work schedules.

Absence:  If you are holding a static position, it is assumed that you will be present unless you've declared otherwise. If you cannot make it that night, please make sure the team knows ASAP so that we can open up the spot and get one of our subs to take over. While word-of-mouth is okay, we'd prefer you make your notice traceable - post in the forums, send a mail in-game, PM a LS leader on the site here.... you get the drift.

If there is a "no show" then expect a discussion. You may ultimately be removed from the static position or LS, but it depends on the situation; we understand that there are emergency RL scenarios and respect that.

Start Time: Please be online before the scheduled start time, in Vent and/or in-game. We will start sending out group invites at 8:45pm Eastern. Unless you've declared that you will be a few minutes late (work, life, etc), we will consider the 9pm start time as the "cutoff" for holding your spot that night - at that point it is a no-show and we'll look to fill it ASAP so that we can stay on schedule. The goal is to be inside the duty no later than 9:15pm each night.

If you are consistently 5+ minutes late when you're on the roster, then expect a discussion. You may ultimately be removed from the static position or LS.

Loot

Our approach to loot is vastly different than you may have seen elsewhere in FFXIV. Don't slip into habits and spam your roll buttons on raid night, lest you find yourself out of the LS very quickly.

Gear - Need:  Our mindset is "True Need" before "I want that" and so we ask members to hold from instinctively rolling as soon as the chests are popped. If you can roll 'Need' and the item provides an iLevel upgrade to the job you're playing at that moment, you are free to roll and advised that state that it is a true upgrade. If no eligible rollers have a True Need, you may roll Need if you have other reasons for acquiring that item. Otherwise, we ask that you consider players in the group who can only roll Greed and may have a serious interest in upgrading their gear for a job that they are not playing at the moment. Overall, we want to make sure that everyone in the LS has sufficient gear as we move into the harder turns.

Gear - Greed:  Please DO NOT roll 'Greed' just because you can. If a piece of loot drops for a job that isn't present, we expect only those who currently have the job at level 50 to roll. Also, it is not required but we ask that you please be considerate to those who may play that job frequently and with more interest. For example, if BLM/SMN gear drops and the BLM in the group already has that piece, the SCH should not roll if they don't play their SMN and there are other level 50 Arcanists & BLMs in the group who are more serious about the job.

Sand/Oil/UAT/etc - Need/Greed/Pass:  If you are rolling Need on a piece of gear in the same set of loot from this win, then please hold your roll on these other items. If you do not win the gear you had rolled for, then you can proceed with rolling Need/Greed here. If you do win the gear, we ask that you pass on these so that another team member can win an item.
As with gear, only roll Need if your main coil job can benefit from one of these items. Otherwise, please roll greed if you have a level 50 alternate that could make use of the item.

If you roll on loot incorrectly, then expect a discussion. You will likely be removed from the static position or LS.

Attitude
We've all been there. Those groups with one or more people who lose their heads after the group wipes a few times. We expect a little better than this out of our LS members - there's a learning curve and wipes will happen. Succeed or fail, we do it as a team and it's up to all of us to support each other and work together to grow and overcome each new challenge.

If your attitude starts to suck.... see previous "If" statements.   Wink

Performance
While we truly dislike the 'elitist' style of thinking, one can agree that for the tougher content in FFXIV there is a need for each member to be in tune with their character, job, and the mechanics of the encounters they're going into. Therefore it's expected that each person will take the time they feel necessary to prepare for each run so that they can perform at a level that gives us the best opportunity to succeed.

If we appear to be bombing on runs excessively, we will identify and discuss the problems - who is getting hit by what, who is missing key skills for survivability and/or damage output at critical moments, who is struggling with general mechanics, and so forth. While it is only a game, we are a group of people putting RL time and energy into these duties and so we want to take the extra steps to make sure our personal investments are rewarded with wins and progression.

If a particular person seems to have a pattern of issues, there will be a discussion with said person. We will do our best to see if we can improve the situation without having to resort to removal from the LS - we have had success coaching players in the past where needed, and appreciate those that can accept constructive criticism.
