I've been with three different internet providers over the years of this site and never had it load slow unless it was something we had messed up with the site when implementing some new idea/feature; which we haven't done in a while.  Actually if you count work/jobs its 6 different providers and every browser possible and mobile devices used to access only time I remember it being slow is when out of of the USA.

Should be able to talk you through a ip/traceroute and maybe find the problem and possibly a way to fix it.

Thanks Car. I'm sure Tomas has been through a fair bit of testing/troubleshooting since he's pretty technical as well, but if you have a lead on the root cause I'm all ears. Never know when other folks may run into the same thing.

I do still think there's room for improvement on the site, but your experiences with it at least confirms that a good load time is possible. I've been tied up dealing with issues at work this evening, so I haven't had a chance to pull any stats or diagnostics yet. May not get the chance to until tomorrow as I'll be eating dinner soon and then shifting to "raid prep" mode.

So I'm tempted to drop in a ticket this afternoon to see if we can move to SMF 2.x next week.

I'm not certain, but I feel like being out of 1.x may have helped prevent a problem that happened early this morning where PHP was updated and caused errors (it ultimately had to be rolled back). Plus I think we want to head in this direction anyway, and no matter when/how we do it there will be fallout and things to tweak & correct for compatibility.

That, and at the same time investigate switching out of tinyportal.
