Website Updates

In preparation for the release of FF14 ARR, some housekeeping is being done on the site here.

This biggest things to note as as follows:

-New FFXIV theme (with banner & background image)
-New FFXIV board in the Encyclopedia Ravenica section of the forums


There is more, but most of it is very minor and will not affect your experience here. As other things are done over the coming days, I will post updates to this thread.

Forgot to note this last week, but after the hardware upgrades were performed two weekends ago we found that the "Chat Room" feature no longer works. We've been waiting to put in a ticket to ensure that the vendor has some newer backups following our other recent additions to the site. Also, this might create a downtime scenario which we don't want while FFXIV is in the middle of launch (and especially with the issues they're having!).

There was a past case where an issue called for them to restore from backed up data, and wouldn't use the manual backup Fantome created. That's why we're being extra cautious this time.

Hey all, here to announce another change/addition to our site!

It was suggested by Roland last night (excellent idea by the way!) that we have an area for our crafters & gatherers in FFXIV where members can submit requests for items and materials needed. Of course, anyone can make a request (you don't need to be a crafter/gatherer) but this can be a way for some of us to help FC members out when we're not online at the same time.

As I thought about this more, I realized that we can take this idea one step further and also submit requests for a group. Those of us with limited playtimes may have content we wish to clear but know in advance that we're only available within a certain time window. We have enough people who have the desire and flexibility to help, especially if they know in advance what day/time is person is looking to run something.


So... today I will begin creating a new board on the forums to accommodate all of this. I will create a pinned topic there with a simple form to fill out and instructions for posting/replying. In addition, I will update the Google Doc with our DoH/DoL roster and link it in that topic. When everything is finished, I will create an entry in the Quick Links pane so folks can get right to this board from the homepage.


As always, I'm open to suggestions or comments to help make things more convenient for everyone.
